Ban on Synthetic Polymer Particles
Starting from October 17, 2023, a new regulation, Entry 78 ((EU) 2023/2055), found in Annex XVII of European Commission Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, will become effective. This regulation forbids the introduction of intentionally included synthetic polymer bits (synthetic polymer micro-sized pieces) into the market. The synthetic polymer micro-particles' concentration in the product must not surpass 0.01%. This ban includes granular synthetic polymer particles measuring less than 5 mm and fibrous synthetic polymer particles measuring less than 15 mm with an aspect ratio greater than 3.
