How to judge whether the luminous powder is damaged by hydrolysis during use?

Luminous powder (Also called glow in the dark pigment) is called "inorganic ceramic material" or "rare earth functional ceramic material" in the industry, and it is a functional pigment.

If the water-based luminous powder is not properly coated or the coating is damaged, when the luminous powder reacts directly with water to produce aluminum hydroxide, causing the system to become solid and not luminous.

The typical judgment condition is the change of pH value:

1. The PH value of water-based coated luminous powder is normally 6.5-7.5

2. The PH value of the hydrolyzed luminous powder is 11-12

Inventory powder detection method:

1. Take the orange luminous powder and yellow-green luminous powder in stock

2. Adjust the lotion in advance

3. Yellow-green luminous powder mixed with lotion

4. Orange luminous powder mixed with lotion

5. After mixing 50% of the yellow-green and orange powders with the emulsion, do a PH test and a viscosity test, seal it and put it in 50-60 degree warm water (or in an oven)

6. After 3 days, check the pH and viscosity changes. It is recommended to use an electronic pH value tester


Result analysis:

1. If the viscosity rises but the pH does not change, there may be a problem with the emulsion system. Suggestion: You can adjust the pH value of the emulsion to 6.5 to 7, and test again

2. If the PH value rises, the viscosity rises, and the luminous powder is hydrolyzed, then this batch of goods cannot be used

Suggestion: You can mix each additive with the luminous powder separately, and then observe the change in pH value to determine which additive reacts with the luminous powder, and then adjust the additive.
