Usage and precautions of Thermochromic pigments for textiles

13 Jun 2025
Regarding thermochromic pigments for textiles, they can be used.

There are usually three ways of use: coating (spraying), dyeing and printing.
1. Coating (spraying)
First, the thermochromic pigment needs to be mixed with water to prepare a temperature-changing slurry.
Then, the temperature-changing slurry is evenly coated (sprayed) on the textile.
Finally, dry for about 24 hours.
2. Dyeing
If you want to achieve a hazy temperature-changing effect, you can heat and soak the textile in the temperature-changing slurry for a period of time,
and keep the soaking temperature at 60°C so that the thermochromic microcapsules are embedded in the textile fibers to achieve the temperature-changing effect.
3. Printing
If you need to achieve a temperature-changing effect on the pattern on the textile, you can use printing.
Mix the temperature-changing slurry and the printing slurry, and then print on the textile.

Pay attention to the following points when using:
1. The addition ratio of the thermochromic pigment is 3%-7%, and the specific addition amount depends on your demand for the thermochromic effect.
2. Choose a suitable textile (preferably one with less elasticity), wash and dry it. Make sure there is no residue on the textile, otherwise it will affect the effect of the thermosensitive pigment.
Before applying, please test a small area to ensure that the thermosensitive pigment can work effectively.
3. To ensure that the thermochromic pigment can be evenly distributed on the textile, it is necessary to use a stirrer to stir it thoroughly until a uniform slurry is formed.
4. To ensure that the thermochromic pigment can be firmly attached to the textile, the textile needs to be placed in a ventilated place to dry for about 24 hours.
