Quality Control
To maintain reliable batch-to-batch consistency for AS435 apple green mica powder, iSuoChem® prepares a color card for every production batch using an automatic film applicator and compares it with the approved standard sample. For selected coating and ink systems, our laboratory can also simulate the customer’s production conditions, helping verify the color and pearl luster effect while supporting formulation development and quality control.
How Does Apple Green Mica Powder Create a Pearl Luster Effect?
Apple green mica powder combines a green body color with the optical effect of thin, plate-like particles. In a typical mica-based pearlescent pigment, the mica platelet acts as a partly transparent substrate carrying an optical coating. When light reaches the particle, part is reflected from the outer surface, while part enters the layered structure and reflects from deeper interfaces.[1]
Because these reflected waves travel different optical paths, they can reinforce or weaken particular wavelengths when they recombine. This thin-film interference, together with directional reflection from the flat platelets, creates the brightness, depth and angle-dependent sheen associated with pearl pigments. The effect depends on the refractive index and optical thickness of the pigment layers, as well as the illumination and viewing geometry.
The final appearance is also influenced by the arrangement of the pigment in the finished material. Platelet orientation, particle size, pigment concentration and spacing between particles can change reflection intensity and visual uniformity. Finer particles generally distribute reflected light more evenly, producing a smoother sheen, while larger platelets may create stronger localized highlights when properly oriented.[2]
