iSuoChem® AS4605 is an industrial-grade red pearl pigment powder based on natural mica, TiO₂ and organic pigment, designed to create a sparkling red color with bright pearl luster. Available in 10–60 μm and 20–100 μm particle-size options, this red pearl powder can be used in automotive finishes, powder coatings and plastics where a decorative red pearlescent effect is required. Batch color-card comparison and laboratory evaluation help support consistent appearance for customers developing sparkling red paint, coatings and other industrial color applications.

Quality Control and Batch-to-Batch Consistency
To maintain consistent color and appearance from batch to batch, each production batch of AS4605 red pearl pigment is applied to a color card using an automatic applicator and compared with a standard sample. For selected applications, we can also simulate the customer’s production conditions in our laboratory according to specific requirements. These evaluations help verify the color and pearl effect of the red pearl powder before shipment, while also supporting customer R&D and ongoing batch-to-batch consistency.
Why Does Red Pearl Pigment Look Different in Powder Form and in a Finished Coating?
The appearance of a red pearl pigment powder should not be used alone to predict its final effect in a coating. Loose red pearl powder has not yet formed the platelet–binder structure found in an applied film, while studies of pearlescent and other platelet-containing coatings show that flake orientation and spatial arrangement strongly influence color and visual appearance.[1]
After dispersion in a coating, the platelets are suspended within the binder. During application and film formation, coating flow can promote preferential flake orientation, although the degree of alignment depends on formulation and processing conditions. Changes in orientation affect angular reflectance and therefore the visible luster and brightness of the finished red pearlescent pigment effect.[2]
For mica/TiO₂ pearlescent pigments, pearl luster results from optical interactions including reflection, refraction and interference within the layered structure. In a colored grade such as AS4605, however, the red hue also involves an absorbing red pigment component and should not be attributed to interference alone.
The final red pearl color can therefore vary with platelet orientation, pigment concentration, particle size, spacing and coating structure. For industrial evaluation, dry powder is best treated as a preliminary reference. Testing the red pearl pigment in the intended binder, substrate and application process provides a more meaningful indication of the final sparkling red paint or coating effect than dry-powder inspection alone.

Particle size has a direct influence on the visual appearance of pearl pigments, from smooth satin luster to more pronounced sparkle. This guide explains how fine, medium and coarse micron ranges affect pearl effect, coverage and application selection. For buyers evaluating a red pearl pigment or red pearl powder such as AS4605, understanding particle size can help determine whether the resulting red pearlescent pigment effect is better suited to a subtle luster or a stronger sparkling finish.
