This organic pigment red 49:1 (P.R.49:1) belongs to the β-naphthol lake pigment family and exhibits moderate oil absorption and balanced resistance properties. Its specific gravity is 1.60-1.80, its bulk volume is 2.3-2.7 liters/kg, and its average particle size is maintained between 100-200 nanometers. These properties ensure excellent printability in ink systems.
Pigment Red 49:1 exhibits heat resistance to 180°C and moderate light fastness. It exhibits a characteristic reddish-purple color in concentrated sulfuric acid, which turns to a reddish-purple solution upon dilution. The pigment is slightly soluble in hot water, ethanol, and acetone, and exhibits moderate chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, and water.
Through a special resinization process, this red pigment PR49:1 can be formulated into a water-based dispersion based on a styrene acrylic resin system, resulting in excellent opacity and gloss. This treatment ensures excellent compatibility and tinting strength in a variety of flexographic and water-based gravure inks, making it particularly suitable for printing on kraft paper and paperboard.
This Red PR49:1 pigment also exhibits moderate acid and alkali resistance and good solvent resistance, making it suitable for a variety of complex applications. Its high tinting strength means that a relatively low dosage can achieve the desired coloring effect, offering excellent economical performance.

Pigment Red 49:1 Applications
Printing Inks: Pigment red 49:1 is highly recommended for Offset inks, and Water based flexo ink (flexographic inks).
Besides, Widely used in publication gravure inks, and newsprint inks.
Packaging Printing: Suitable for printing and coloring packaging materials such as kraft paper and paperboard.
Coatings: Used in air-drying industrial coatings, providing a cost-effective red solution.
Note: This pigment offers significant cost advantages in printing inks, but its heat resistance is relatively limited, making it unsuitable for plastics processed at high temperatures. It is recommended for cost-sensitive interior applications that do not require extremely high weather resistance.
