Pigment Red 48:1 is a bright yellowish-red barium lake pigment supplied as a fine powder for inks, plastics, rubber and coatings. Unlike a soluble dye, it remains as dispersed pigment particles and provides strong tint strength, good solvent resistance, migration resistance and heat resistance up to 180°C.

Organic Pigment Red 48:1 vs Other Organic Pigment Red 48 Grades
Pigment Red 48:1, Pigment Red 48:2, Pigment Red 48:3 and Pigment Red 48:4 belong to the BONA metal-salt azo pigment family[1]. They share the same general organic colorant system but contain different metal ions. PR48:1 is the barium salt, PR48:2 the calcium salt, PR48:3 the strontium salt and PR48:4 the manganese salt.

Deeper shade and compatibility with selected industrial coating systems |
Pigment Red 48:1 may be evaluated when the target formulation requires a bright, relatively warm scarlet shade rather than the cooler bluish-red position generally associated with PR48:2 or PR48:4.
Potential evaluation areas include printing inks, PVC and selected plastic or coating systems. Suitability should be confirmed against the actual binder, resin, solvent, plasticizer and processing conditions. Color strength, dispersion time and cost-in-use should also be compared with the customer’s current reference pigment rather than predicted from the C.I. designation alone.

FAQ
Q1:Can Pigment Red 48:1 powder be customized for a specific shade or formulation?
Yes, we can. Commercial grades may be adjusted through particle control, surface treatment or formulation support to better match a target shade, dispersion requirement or application system. A reference sample or existing pigment standard is recommended for evaluation.Q2:What information should be provided when requesting a sample?
To improve sample selection, buyers should provide the intended application, resin or binder system, solvent type, processing temperature, target shade, annual consumption and current reference grade. This helps reduce unnecessary testing and speeds up technical evaluation.Q3:How should different batches of Pigment Red 48:1 be evaluated?
Batch approval should include comparison of full shade, tint shade, tinting strength, dispersion, viscosity and relevant fastness properties. Testing under the same formulation and processing conditions is recommended to ensure consistent results.
